Health Exchange Subsidy

Starting in 2014, you will get help paying for health insurance if your income is between 134% and 400% of the federal poverty level (FPL). You will get a credit to buy insurance through an exchange.

The size of the credit will depend on:

  • Your income
  • Age and family size
  • If you can get insurance through your job
  • Cost of living in your town

Based on these factors you will pay between 2% and 9.5% of your income for insurance. If your insurance costs more than this, you will get a credit for the rest. Estimate your credit using this calculator.
