Guaranteed Issue
Guaranteed issue is when an insurer must enroll you in a health plan regardless of things like your health, age or sex.
For example, state and federal laws now require health plans that cover 2 to 50 employees be on a guaranteed issue basis. This means small employers cannot be turned down based on the health of their employees. But, insurers can charge more to one employer than another based on the health of its employees.
